What to do if you have an emergency repair.
If you have a leak from the bathroom or toilet. Find the rising main, normally under the sink, and turn off the water. If the water is coming through close to a light or power outlet, turn off the electricity at the fuse box. Place a container under the leak to catch as much water as possible. Do not prod or poke any water bulge in a ceiling.
If the heating goes off, first check the fuse box to ensure that the power has not gone off. If resetting does not restart the boiler the most common cause of such failure is that the PCB board in the control unit has failed. It will need a new board that our plumber will need to order one in and fit.
If the power has suddenly gone off and none of your neighbours have the same problem, turn off all appliances, reset the power at the consumer unit and turn the power back on. In turn switch back on all the appliances until you find the appliance that is causing the fusing.
